A New Dresser for Noah

When I was about six months pregnant I began searching craigslist and local thrift stores for a dresser/changing table that we could refinish or paint for Noah’s room. I never found anything that worked and we moved to New Hampshire without any storage for his clothes or changing table space in his room.  Our first weekend here, Dave and I found an old dresser at the local Habitat ReStore. Dave refinished it and after many nights sanding, priming, painting, gloss-coating and installing new hardware… it’s finally done and in Noah’s room. I think you’ll agree that Dave did an AWESOME job.

BEFORE: I should have taken the pic before I removed the *beautiful* gold-ish hardware.

AFTER: Light teal glossy paint and new bronze hardware.

Family Fun

The BEST part of living in New Hampshire is our new proximity to Dave’s brother Joel, our sister-in-law, Rachel and their adorable kiddos, Jude, Levi and AnaLeah. Before moving here, we saw these guys a couple of times a year, max… now we see them once a day, at a minimum!

So far we’ve celebrated two birthday’s, a “Lobster Friday” countless other visits and walks together.

A perfect Friday night meal.

Levi showing the Lobsters his trains while Jude keeps Noah entertained.

Three cousins on the way to pick peaches and blueberries.

Noah and Dave help celebrate Levi’s birthday at the pool. Noah got to wear his hoodie swim shirt and was not embarrassed by it one bit… no matter what Dave says!

Wicked Good Lobstas

We thought Noah needed to visit a new state, so this past Sunday we ventured across the border to Kittery, Maine. We had a great one-day vacation, spending the afternoon eating lobster rolls on a pier, checking out a historical site (Fort McClary), and hitting up Shipyard brew pub.

Dave and Noah (snoozing in his carseat) waiting for our lobster rolls at Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier.

Noah can be easily identified by his hair sticking out of the baby carrier!

Too Cute @ Two Months

Noah had his two-month well-child appointment yesterday. It was confirmed that he is healthy, strong and too cute! The nurse and doctor loved Noah’s hair… as do many strangers on our trips to the grocery store and around town. We get many comments and complements about Noah’s hair…These New Englanders are giving southerners a run for their money in the friendliness department.  Although, we are missing the “y’alls” and I’m not too excited about all the Red Sox and Patriots gear I’m seeing these days!

Noah weighed in at 11 lbs. 4 oz. and 23 inches. Right at the 50th percentile in both categories… although the “super-precise” method of marking his head and foot on the exam table and measuring between the lines, showed that he hadn’t gotten any longer in a month. We know otherwise, as he’s been busting out of his footie PJs.

Two Months: Noah and “mini-Greylock”

Noah has been sleeping 6 solid hours for us most nights… Dave and I appreciate it…Thanks little guy! He prefers to be sitting up a bit or reclining, rather than flat on the crib mattress. One of these days he will appreciate the crib! We are still dealing with what seems to be a lot of spit up but the doctor doesn’t seem to be worried one bit and he’s gaining weight. So we will just keep up with the laundry! 🙂

Our First Week in NH

It’s been a busy first week to say the least! Trying to make our rental into a home, Dave getting up to speed at work, refinishing a dresser for Noah, and finding the local Target and Home Depot have kept us on our toes this week.

A few pics from my phone for Noah’s fans. He has his two-month doctors appointment tomorrow (and shots! eyk!) so stay tuned for his stats.

Noah breaking out of his swaddle, using the “feet and legs method.”

Boiler Up! His smile says “Dad, I’m sure they will be better this season.”

I love stripes, and I’m determined to pass it on to Noah. Hey… he looks cute in them too!

New Home in New Hampshire

We finally made it up to our new home in New Hampshire this weekend. We must have picked the hottest day of the year to move into our New England cape-style rental house with no central air (very typical of the northeast!). A normal person would have been sweating standing still on the 95 degree day, but we had to unpack a 27 foot moving truck and keep track of a sweaty baby too!  Alas, we got it done, with the help of our neighbors/brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Ray. Thank goodness for their air conditioning, all their help moving, and feeding us the first weekend we were in town.  And Noah gets the “mover of the year” award for being an awesome baby and chilling in his car seat during the craziness.

Our last night in the old townhouse. Everything we need!

Our first day in New Hampshire… Noah’s cousins Jude and Levi welcoming him to the neighborhood.

Danny and Rita arrived on Friday night for a full day of cleaning and unpacking on Saturday. Again, the family help was critical to a successful and less stressful move! More pics of our new house to come, once we get a little further with the unpacking!

Joel and Ray had us and Danny and Rita over for a delicious cookout Saturday night. While we were relaxing outside, we finally found something that fits in the ridiculously tiny cup holders in our stroller. Cheers Noah!

Before heading to New Hampshire, we made a quick stop in New York. It was great to catch up with our family there, and we look forward to more trips now that we’re a bit closer.
