Saying Goodbye to Blacksburg

For the past two years we’ve made Blacksburg our home. Personally, I never thought I would like this place as much as I do! After hesitantly moving here two years ago I have come to love this university town that is close to the mountains and has pretty much the best weather of anywhere I’ve lived. (Cooler than Charlotte in the summer, not as cold as New York in the winter.) As we get ready to say goodbye, we’ve taken the last week to hit up all of our favorite spots. Lucky for us Noah is a pro at going out to dinner… he quietly snoozes in his car seat while we enjoy pizza, fish tacos and froyo. Hopefully he likes the jogging stroller as much as he likes going out to dinner, because I seriously need to balance out all this good food!

Hitting up our favorite frozen yogurt spot, Sweet Frog, with our friends Caitlyn and Brooklyn. (Brooklyn is just a few days older than Noah.)

Last Hike in VA … For Now

Before we leave Virginia we wanted to take Noah on one of our favorite local hikes. This week we hit up the War Spur Trail in Jefferson National Forest, just 30 minutes or so from where we live in Blacksburg. This is a must-do local hike that we take many of our visitors on … so we figured we have to take the newest member of our family!  Greylock was thrilled to finally get out on more than a neighborhood walk… the first big excursion for him since Noah was born.

Noah slept most of the way… I guess he wasn’t impressed by the awesome view! We gave him a chance to check it out before tucking him back in the wrap.

1 Month Old!

Noah had his 1-month check-up today. He’s come a long way since the 3 day old who wasn’t eating well and was losing weight.  Noah clocked in at 10 lbs (60th percentile) and 23 inches (98th percentile… definitely shaping up to be the tallest member of our family) and off the charts on cuteness. Besides some minor reflux, which is resulting in a fair amount of spit up and a ton of laundry, Noah got a clean bill of health.

During the past week he has grown out of newborn cloths and fits nicely in 0-3 month clothes… especially those adorable baby GAP onesies that I can’t resist. We are also working on transitioning him from sleeping in the car seat (gasp!) to sleeping in his pack n play. He must feel really cozy and relaxed in the car seat though, because it is still the go-to-spot to ensure extra sleep for all of us.

Meet the Grandparents – Part 2

Noah’s social calendar is very busy… many friends and family members can’t wait to meet our little guy and we can’t wait to introduce him to everyone! This week the Hartter’s came to town to meet their newest grandchild and number 2 of 3 to be born this year. Once again, Dave and I enjoyed some delicious food and caught a few extra naps while the Grandparents kept Noah occupied.

Our friends Mike and Audrey swung up to Blacksburg to meet little Noah and enjoy lunch with us. We can’t wait to see you guys again around Labor Day!

Mike and his BFF Greylock. Greylock was instantly thrilled to receive a few extra belly rubs from an old friend.

I wonder if Noah will pick up ski building and construction skills from these two?

Thanks for stopping by!

Meeting the Grandparents – Part 1

We all had a great week with my parents in town to meet their first grandchild. While Dave and I enjoyed delicious meals, a stocked fridge of fresh fruit and a constantly clean kitchen, courtesy of my mom … Noah turned on the charm and instantly won over his grandparents. We are looking forward to our trip to Schenectady in just a month so that Noah can meet the rest of his NY family!

We look forward to the Hartters visiting later this week for Meet the Grandparents, Part 2.

Noah also experienced many firsts… his first trip to Cabo Fish Taco for lunch, a few trips to Sweet Frog for frozen yogurt and checking out the baby sections of Target and Gap.
